Improved accuracy. Traditional impactor cassettes recommend
sampling times of fifteen minutes or less. But longer sampling periods
are proven to yield statistically more accurate results. The Smart Cassette
can be used with any air pump to collect samples for twenty-four hours
without impairing results.
To
ensure that all captured particles are available for analysis, the
airborne particles are collected on a mixed cellulose ester filter which
then becomes transparent during the laboratory procedures for easy
analysis. Unlike current testing methods, the Relle Smart Cassette, when
pulling 11/2 lpm or less of air over a single 24 hour sample
period, does not generate occluded samples, unless the conditions are
extremely dirty. Because the trace size is 2.57 times larger than spore
traps, yet small enough for the labs to economically read, occlusion
usually does not occur. (Also when used with the Relle Smart Sampler,
the pump can be programmed to turn off when particulate load becomes
heavy.)

Higher collection efficiency. The MCE filter used in
the Smart Cassette has a collection efficiency 1.7 times greater than
that of commonly used impactors in capturing Aspergillus mold spores.
Many species of Aspergillus and Penicillum have spores smaller than
3µm; standard spore traps and impactors only have 70% collection
efficiency for particles of this size.
The standard Smart Cassette uses a 0.8 µm pore size mixed cellulose
ester filter. All particles larger than 0.8 µm will be captured with
100% efficiency. PTFE, polycarbonate and other 37mm filter media are
available on special order.

Allows multiple testing methods. The Smart Cassette,
through its specially designed diffuser and mixing chamber, evenly
distributes particulates across the entire trace, allowing culturing
and/or microscopic examination from the same sample. The trace is marked
for even separation into 2 or 4 equal parts.

Reliable data correlation.
When used with the Relle Smart Sampler, the attached memory card holds
key information such as date and time of the sample and environmental
conditions, all in electronic format. The card goes to the lab with the
cassette, ensuring that data and sample remain linked. The possibility
of a data mismatch is eliminated, giving you more reliable information
and added confidence.
(The Smart Cassette is also available without the memory card for
practitioners using an air pump other than the Smart Sampler)
